CEBPR's research is highly collaborative and multidisciplinary, leveraging the collective strengths and expertise of all departments in the Ourso College and diverse scholars from across the LSU system campuses. Our research spans a wide range of topics, including healthcare outcomes, economic policy, and community development, among others. We pursue a mix of federal, state, local, and non-profit funding to address key Louisiana business, economics, and public affairs concerns. Our research is innovative, and impactful, and provides insights that inform decision-making and shape policy.
Areas of Research
Since 2003, CEBPR (formerly EPRG) has conducted the Louisiana Health Insurance Survey for the Louisiana Department of Health. This is the largest survey of Louisiana households used to measure the number of uninsured children and adults and assess health-related issues.
CEBPR (formerly EPRG) has worked with Louisiana Economic Development and others to evaluate the economic impact of over 70 major industrial development projects and events.
CEBPR (formerly EPRG) has provided forecasts of Unemployment Claims and Employment to the Louisiana Workforce Commission over its 20-year history and provided numerous specialized studies to LWC and others based on forecasts of employment and related issues.
CEBPR (formerly EPRG) has worked closely with the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority providing reports on such issues as coastal erosion and GOMESA.

Understanding Trends in Louisiana Labor Force Report
Developed in partnership with the Louisiana Workforce Commission, this report examines trends in Louisiana labor force participation over time with an emphasis on the current labor market. It also includes a comprehensive study into the potential contributors to Louisiana's declining labor force participation.
LSU Impact Report
LSU supported $6.1 billion in Louisiana economic output in 2021-22. The Economics & Policy Research Group (EPRG) is proud to have produced the Economic
Impact of LSU on Louisiana report. Led by Professor Dek Terrell, EPRG conducts essential
economic research on matters of interest to the citizens of Louisiana.

Special Report on Health Access Disparities
Disparities in access to healthcare across demographic groups has long been a subject of concern in public policy. A new report from the Louisiana Department of Health, the Special Report on Health Access Disparities, examines those differences based on data from over 8,500 Louisiana households surveyed in the Louisiana Health Insurance Survey. The report focuses on differences in access to healthcare in Louisiana across demographic groups and insurance plans – including those who are not insured. Read the Report
Louisiana Health Insurance Survey
The Louisiana Health Insurance Survey provides the most detailed and accurate estimates of insurance coverage in Louisiana based on a survey of more than 8,500 households in the state. Relative to other estimates based on federal data, our survey benefits from state-specific question wording to minimize response error, as well as a statistical correction for Medicaid misreporting. The LHIS is a biennial survey sponsored by the state's Department of Health that we conduct in partnership with the LSU Public Policy Research Lab. Read the Report
The Economic Impact of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four on the LA Economy
This report summarizes the estimated economic impact of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four, held in New Orleans, LA, on the Louisiana economy. In particular, we focus on estimating the Louisiana sales and excise taxes attributed to the event based on intercept surveys at the games and its related events and expenditure data provided by the Host Committee, NCAA, media, and sponsors.
