Higher Ed Students Partner with Baton Rouge Youth Coalition
9/30/2019
Baton Rouge - Dr. Ashley Clayton's College Access & Choice Higher Education Course partnered with the Baton Rouge Youth Coalition (BRYC) to inform high school students about the path to continuing their education. Higher Education graduate students were organized at tables based on college topics and identities, such as first generation students, HBCU, PWI, out-of-state universities and more. BRYC seniors visited tables of their choice to interact with graduate students and ask questions about taking the next steps to choosing a university.
BRYC was founded in 2009 when a high school teacher, Daniel Kahn, realized that his most successful students did not have the resources they needed for college success. BRYC offers its fellows academic, personal, leadership and college support services. The mission of the organization is to prepare high-achieving, under-resourced students to enter, excel, and graduate from college.
