Biography
Alan Sikes received his M.F.A. in Theatre Directing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his Ph.D. in Theatre Historiography from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. He researches the links between performance and politics across the spectrum of Western theatre history. Alan is the author of Representation and Identity from Versailles to the Present (2007) and Sex, Class, and the Theatrical Archive (2020), both from Palgrave Press. His essays have appeared in Theatre Journal, Theatre Topics, Theatre/Practice, Theatre History Studies, Modern Drama, The Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism, Studies in Eighteenth Century Culture, and the anthologies Querying Difference in Theatre History and Theatre Historiography: Critical Questions.
