LSU Announces Joint BS Industrial Engineering and MBA Program
September 11, 2014 | LSU Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering
LSU’s College of Engineering will launch a dual Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Master of Business Administration degree program in conjunction with the LSU E.J. Ourso College of Business, effective fall 2015.
The BS IE/MBA program will provide LSU students the opportunity to concurrently earn an industrial engineering BS and MBA in five years.
“We are very happy to form this partnership with the College of Business. Many of our IE graduates will return to earn a MBA," said Dr. Craig Harvey, associate professor and industrial engineering program director, Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering. "The dual IE-MBA program will allow our graduates to combine their strong industrial engineering analytical skills with the entrepreneurial and management skills from the MBA. Together, it provides an unbeatable combination for our students.”
Students participating in the new joint degree program will be required to complete 162 total course credit hours, with 125 credits toward the BS in industrial engineering, 52 credits for the MBA and 18 credits to correspond between those academic disciplines.
To be considered for the program, students must take the GMAT or GRE during their junior year in the LSU industrial engineering program and apply for admission to the LSU Flores MBA Program with a minimum requirement of a 3.0 overall GPA and 600 GMAT or 314 GRE.
