HSS Humanities Center Mini-Residencies Initiative
Faculty leading a graduate course in Spring 2025 are invited to apply for one of these Graduate Course-Based Mini-Residency for Visiting Scholars, which will supply the funds and administrative support to bring an agenda-setting scholar in that faculty member’s field to campus for up to four days of engagement with the faculty member and their graduate course enrollees, as well as other HSS communities.
These residencies (1) extend the curricular resources of graduate study in HSS by making it possible for faculty to bring in scholars working at the intersection of faculty members’ own research itineraries and their graduate students’ academic training, (2) present chances for faculty (especially junior and mid-career faculty) to consult about their own research with eminent scholars in their fields, and (3) empower faculty members and their department chairs/program directors to curate high-impact, scholarship-advancing encounters, in any number of formats.
The HSS Humanities Center’s Advisory Board will review proposals for residencies. The faculty submitting proposals selected for Spring 2025 will receive notice of their selection, after which those faculty members can begin the process of inviting their proposed visitors. The mini-residency will cover travel, accommodation, meals, and incidental expenses for the visitor, as well as an honorarium commensurate with the visitor’s stature, and expenses associated with events programmed as part of this visit. Please note that visitors should have no current or planned employment at LSU.
Please submit proposals for Spring 2025 by October 21, 2024.
