Keegan Finney

Coordinator, Aquatics

There are many reasons why I work in University Recreation and Aquatics. I love educating and empowering people to become Lifeguard certified, because I believe that it teaches important skills such as professionalism and focus. As a job, lifeguards work hard as a team and build relationships with each other and patrons to promote an atmosphere of safety. I also enjoy meeting the swimmers that use our pools every day to make themselves the healthiest version of themselves.

Since I first started at UREC in 2019 as a lifeguard, I have developed professionally and personally. I hope to be able to give back to my students in the same way by coaching them through situations and helping them build their confidence to enter the workforce. Similarly, I met some of my closest friends and mentors. Fostering a work environment where students can learn those same skills and build those long-lasting relationships is very important to me and is the most important reason why I love this work.

Alma Mater

My favorite line in the LSU Alma Mater is the first line “Where stately oaks and broad magnolias shade inspiring halls” because there is almost nothing more distinctive about LSU than the beautiful oak trees that we walk under every day. 

Geaux Tigers

My favorite thing to do in Baton Rouge is to go watch the Tigers play, regardless of the sport. I love watching the Tigers play and I believe that LSU’s fans have an intensity that cannot be matched.

Top Three

My top 3 favorite TV shows are “Game of Thrones”, “It’s Always Sunny in Philidelphia”, and “Stranger Things”.
