For more than 100 years, the College of Agriculture has been an integral part of LSU. Our roots go back to the first graduating class, while the mission of the college evolved our commitment to agricultural production in Louisiana remains the common thread that binds the college's past and future.
Our students get practical, hands-on experiences in environments that help facilitate learning. Students focusing on wildlife will go out into wetlands and those with an interest in plants or animals will get experience with gardens, crops and livestock on research farms.
Many of the future’s biggest questions will be answered through agriculture. Because of this we provide students with state-of-the-art labs and equipment, so they have the resources to be prepared to tackle those tough issues.
The present campus location was built on a former sugarcane farm, so when we say LSU is rooted in agriculture, we mean it. Agriculture was a priority in 1922 and continues to be today as we stay true to our mission of creating a better life for the people of Louisiana and those across the world.
Two outstanding students from LSU's College of Agriculture have been chosen to represent the LSU Tiger Twelve Class of 2026: Chandler Collins and Madelyn Phillips. The Tiger Twelve is an esteemed program that celebrates a group of exceptional undergraduate seniors, who have shown leadership, service, and commitment throughout their time at LSU.
As weather extremes and new threats challenge Louisiana’s crawfish industry, LSU is stepping forward—building on decades of research to develop more resilient, efficient, and predictable production methods for the future.
Researchers in the LSU AgCenter are tackling foodborne risks at multiple points along the system, including hydroponic production, on-farm fertilizer practices, bacterial behavior on equipment surfaces, and the development of antimicrobial, biodegradable packaging.
The LSU AgCenter plays an integral role in supporting agricultural industries, enhancing the environment, and improving quality of life through 4-H youth, family and consumer sciences, and community development programs.
The LSU College of Agriculture Alumni Association and Friends’ mission is to promote advancement of LSU and to provide support to all programs within the College of Agriculture and the LSU AgCenter.
Our alumni are found across the globe working in diverse fields. Their experiences and knowledge help shape our students’ future and advance agriculture. Many alumni give back to the college through membership in the alumni association, participation in the Agricultural Mentoring Program, the Agricultural Career Fair and financial support of scholarships, professorships and internships.
