- Join us to watch a movie “Sight”! It's a great chance to meet Dr. Ming Wang, a Harvard and MIT MD and PhD who is
also a world-renowned eye surgeon. The movie is based on his genuine story. Dr. Wang
will be present to tell his journey and provide free eye consultations. Bring your
friends—we like welcoming newcomers to our community and reconnecting with old acquaintances.

A Short History of Anti-Asian Violence in the US, and Why It Matters Today. - Lecture/Workshop by Dr. Pranav jani

In this lecture and workshop, Dr. Pranav Jani will cover the history of anti- Asian violence in the US, with an emphasis on transnational contexts and diversity within Asian groups, and attention to Asian racialization in relation to Black, Indigenous, and Latinx peoples. The question-and- answer session will also include a joint conversation on achievements, obstacles, and debates when organizing A/AAPI faculty and students and our links to BIPOC communities on and off campus. Dr. Jani is Director of Asian American Studies at Ohio State, a scholar in postcolonial studies, president of AAUP-OSU, and a longtime social justice organizer. Connect at jani.4@osu.edu

Coffee with A/AAPI
- Wed, May 4th from 1-3pm on Wednesday, May 4th at City Pork, Design Building.
Come join us for an end-of-the-semester coffee break (don’t we all need that?) ! Stop by and say hi anytime, and stay as long or as short as you like. For this first in-person gathering of our caucus, we would love to celebrate together the close of this difficult year that has too often separated us. Coffee and pastries will be donated by LSU Dining--the A/AAPI Caucus is very grateful for their warm support!

(ORED) will conduct a workshop for faculty whose research involves international collaboration.
Join us and learn more about the complex issues and regulations governing intellectual
property. The workshop will also provide information on the “China Initiative” and
explain the rules for faculty compliance to protect their research.

Learn how to legally protect yourself and those around you if you experience or witness anti-Asian incidents on campus. Join Winston G. DeCuir, Jr., Vice President of Legal Affairs and General Counsel at LSU, for a discussion on the legal rights and recourses of the A/AAPI community when racist, xenophobic, or Islamophobic attacks or harassment occur on our campus. Bring your questions, worries, and concerns.
