Discover Nature Programs

Through a partnership with the Louisiana Master Naturalist of Greater Baton Rouge (LMNGBR) we are proud to offer exciting new Discover Nature programs featuring local and national experts who are in touch with nature and are eager to share their experiences. All programs will be held in the Imo Brown Complex in the Beverly Brown Coates Auditorium at Hilltop Arboretum.

For Hilltop, LMNGBR members, and students registration is $10, $15 for non-members. Discover Nature programs are free for Members Magnolia Level ($250) and above. 

 

Caroline Dormon: Louisiana Pioneer Woman

Caroline Dormon sitting by a treeCaroline Dormon was a prolific writer, multimedia artist, an accomplished botanist, noteworthy archaeologist, an esteemed forester, school teacher, and tireless conservationist. Join us in celebrating her intriguing life, phenomenal accomplishments, diversified career, prestigious awards, books filled with her fantastic wildflower drawings, her passion for conservation, and Briarwood, her unforgettable nature retreat.

Linda Barber Auld, is affectionately known as the NOLA BugLady. She has raised 148 species of butterflies and moths while studying and photographing their life cycles. For 45 years, Linda helped New Orleanians solve their pest problems while also studying and promoting the understanding beneficial insects. Linda has written articles for Louisiana and Mississippi Native Plant Societies, Orleans and Baton Rouge Audubon Societies, and Southern Lepidopterist Society newsletters. She has installed seventeen school gardens in the New Orleans area, enhanced gardens in four Louisiana welcome centers, donated countless plants to public park gardens, and created monarch waystations in seven Louisiana cities and one at Gloster Arboretum in Mississippi.
