COMD MA Mission Statement
The purpose of the Master's program in Communication Disorders is to prepare students to interpret, generate, and apply theory and research to enhance their knowledge of all aspects of human communication and swallowing across the life span. Students will be active in their learning experiences and embrace multiple opportunities to demonstrate evidence-based practice in coursework and clinical practica, critical thinking when applying academic and clinical content to multicultural considerations, and engagement with research. Our goal is to prepare students to master the knowledge and skills specified by current evidence-based practice benchmarks and to hone critical thinking skills required to provide the highest quality of care and skilled use of state-of-the-art technology in assessment, treatment, and prevention across a range of clinical settings.
