Alpha Kappa Delta

Alpha Kappa Delta is the International Sociology Honor Society. We encourage all eligible sociology majors to apply for membership.

Requirements for Undergraduates:

  • Rank of junior (at minimum);
  • Officially declared sociology as your major or you possess a strong interest in sociology;
  • Rank in the upper 35% of your class (in general scholarship);
  • Have at least a 3.0 GPA in sociology courses taken at LSU prior to initiation;
  • Finished at least 4 regular sociology courses prior to initiation (excluding extension or courses graded pass/fail);
  • Currently enrolled at LSU (during the semester in which application is made);
  • Make a one-time payment of $50.00 for lifetime membership.

Requirements for Graduate Students:

  • Completed at least one half year of graduate study in sociology
  • Have a graduate GPA of a B or better
  • Enrolled in a program of study which leads to a graduate degree in sociology at LSU
