Special Events
Louisiana State University requires all event-holders (including student organizations) and/or vendors using University facilities to carry liability insurance for their event. If an organization does not maintain liability insurance, the LSU Office of Risk Management has provided links below to various insurance providers. Any insurance provider with an A.M. Best’s Rating of A-:VI or higher is acceptable. Any liability policy obtained must list the Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University and A&M College as an additional insured, and a certificate of insurance must be provided to the University prior to the event.
In general, the cost of the special event insurance coverage is based on the type of event(s) being covered, the number of attendees and the length of the event. Obtaining special event insurance is independent of leasing or reserving the campus facilities or obtaining security coverage.
For campus departments, the university’s general liability policy covers special events. The university does not accept responsibility or liability for student organizations and/or their members. In addition, the university does not provide insurance coverage for student organizations. It is the responsibility of student organizations to understand the risks that are involved in any activity and any financial consequences that may result from their actions.
