Learn to swim, become a lifeguard, and get certified with one of the UREC Aquatics offerings. We have deep pools, shallow pools, outdoor pools, and an indoor pool to facilitate the trainings and programs.
American Red Cross Certifications
Everyone should be able to save a life. These courses will give you the tools needed to become certified and be prepared in an emergency situation.
This course will help participants react and respond to cardiac and first aid emergencies appropriately. Passing a test at the end is required to earn your certification.

This course is designated for participants that are looking to obtain an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or if you are seeking to become a UREC lifeguard.

Recertification: $125
This course is designed to provide current American Red Cross Instructors with the in-person skills required to maintain or update their current American Red Cross Instructor certification. This is a one-day course. Current certifications must be emailed to urecaquatics@lsu.edu prior to registration for course.
Private Swim Lessons
Registration Open August 1st!
Private swim lessons are designed with your specific swim needs in mind. It doesn’t matter if you need beginner lessons to learn the basics or more advanced customized workout because UREC swim instructors design courses for your specific goals. Think of a personal trainer, but in the UREC pools!
All classes must be completed within 30 days of first lesson.
4 Classes Option
- Ages: 3 years+
- Class Length: 30 minutes
- Days/Times: Monday - Sunday during UREC pool hours
