About the College of Human Sciences & Education
The College of Human Sciences & Education enrolls students from six weeks old to career with a pre-college division composed of laboratory schools pre-k through high school, undergraduate through doctoral offerings, and postgraduate certificates and training. The College houses six vibrant schools in a parallel structure: The School of Education (SOE), The School of Information Studies (SIS), The School of Kinesiology (SOK), The School of Leadership & Human Resource Development (SLHRD), The School of Social Work (SSW), and the University Laboratory School (ULS). Each is headed by a director who reports to the dean of the College of Human Sciences & Education. In addition, the University Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool (ECELP), part of the School of Education, provides educational enrichment opportunities for children throughout the year.
The College offers 8 undergraduate degree programs, 19 graduate degree programs, and 13 online graduate degree or certificate programs.
CHSE also encompasses 4 Centers and Institutes: Early Childhood Education Institute (ECEI), Healthy Aging Research Center, (HARC), Leadership Development Institute (LDI), and Social Research & Evaluation Center (SREC).

CHSE's Chen named as one of six LSU Research Rainmakers
Chen received the Rainmaker Award for the Emerging Scholar in the area of Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences & Behavioral Sciences category. In partnership with Campus Federal Credit Union, the LSU Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) awards six Rainmakers each year to faculty who demonstrate outstanding research, scholarship, and creative activity for their respective rank and discipline. The award recognizes both sustained and continuing work, as well as the impact that work has had on faculty members, their department, and their respective academic community.

Ed Benoit Receives the ALISE Excellence in Teaching Award
Edward Benoit, Associate Professor and Associate Director of the School of Information Studies, was recognized by the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) as the 2023 senior faculty recipient of the ALISE Excellence in Teaching Award. The Award recognizes excellence in educating the next generation of library and information professionals. Dr. Benoit’s nomination highlighted his student-centered approach to teaching, the development of new programs and partnerships, his role as a mentor to current students and alumni, his integration of theory, practice and research in the classroom, and his work pushing archival pedagogy forward.
Jennifer Qian Named to International Data Policy Committee
Jennifer Qian, EdD, Associate Professor of Learning Analytics and Educational Technology, and program lead of the Master's and Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology at the LSU Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education (SOE), was selected as a distinguished member of the International Data Policy Committee (IDPC) within the International Science Council's Committee on Data (CODATA).
